Terms of Service
Christian Union
Operated by Lumis Inspira Ltd (Company number 16321581)
Version 1.3. Last updated 13 May 2026
Christian Union is a community for Christ-centred individuals who are serious about marriage. We reject the gamification of dating in favour of intentional connection rooted in faith. By using our services, you enter into a covenant to uphold these standards.
1. Who We Are
Christian Union is operated by Lumis Inspira Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. Our registered address is Suite A, 82–82D James Carter Road, Mildenhall, Bury St Edmunds, IP28 7DE, United Kingdom.
2. Eligibility and Intent
Christian Union is designed for marriage-minded adults. To use the app, you must meet the following criteria:
- Age. You must be at least 21 years of age.
- Marital Status. You must be legally single and seeking a lifelong, faith-based partnership.
- Earnestness. You agree to use the platform for the purpose of finding a spouse, rejecting casual browsing or deceptive behaviour.
By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you have never been convicted of a serious criminal offence or a registrable sex offence. While we verify identities to ensure authenticity, Christian Union does not conduct formal criminal background checks on its members. We urge you to exercise the same prayerful discernment in your interactions here as you would in any other area of your life.
3. Mandatory Identity Verification
To maintain a safe and high-integrity community, identity verification is a mandatory condition of our contract with you. We do not allow unverified profiles to interact with our members.
- The Process. We utilise AWS Rekognition to perform a Liveness Check, comparing a real-time selfie against your profile photographs.
- Explicit Consent. This process involves biometric data (Special Category Data under Article 9 of UK GDPR). By initiating verification, you provide your explicit consent.
- Requirement. If you choose not to provide consent, or later request the deletion of safety-related verification data while the account is active, your account will be closed.
4. Community Conduct
We treat users like adults made in the image of God and expect respectful, dignified communication. We actively discourage robotic system-speak and cheesy dating puns that cheapen the experience.
- Respect. Users must speak with kindness and empathy.
- Enforcement. When we must enforce rules, we deliver news firmly and explain why the rule exists to protect the community.
We maintain a zero-tolerance standard for behaviour that undermines the safety or emotional well-being of our members. Engaging in any of the following constitutes a material breach of these Terms and will result in the immediate and permanent termination of your account.
- Harassment and Malice. We do not tolerate intimidation, bullying or the sending of unsolicited sexual content. This includes persistent communication after a member has expressed a lack of interest and any behaviour designed to belittle or shame another person.
- Manipulative Language. We reject the gamification of dating and the use of psychological pressure. You must not use language intended to create a false sense of urgency or exploit a member's emotions. Emotional coercion and the use of guilt to extract personal information or commitment are strictly prohibited.
- Fraud and Deception. Integrity is our cornerstone. Any attempt to defraud members, solicit funds or misrepresent your identity is grounds for immediate termination. This includes creating fake profiles, using automated accounts and failing to disclose a marital status that is not legally single.
- Misuse of Purpose. Christian Union is reserved for those seeking a lifelong, faith-based partnership. Using the platform for casual encounters or any purpose that contradicts the sacred intentionality of Christian marriage is a direct violation of this policy.
5. The Ban Evasion Shield
To ensure the safety of our community, we have a strict policy against bad actors returning to the platform.
- Successful Users. For members in good standing, raw biometric templates are deleted immediately after the identity check.
- Banned Users. If an account is banned for a serious violation (for example, harassment or fraud), we retain a non-reversible mathematical face signature (a numerical hash) under our Legitimate Interests.
- Purpose. This digital signature prevents banned individuals from rejoining with different contact details to harm other members.
6. Account Stewardship and Retention
We keep your information only for as long as necessary for the service and safety of the community.
- Paused Accounts. Profiles inactive for more than seven days are automatically paused.
- Automatic Deletion. If a profile remains paused and inactive for 24 months, the account is permanently deleted.
- Voice Introductions. These are stored securely and are never used to train AI models or for voice synthesis.
7. Technical Stack and Service Providers
We share information only with providers necessary to facilitate our service. This includes Supabase (database), RevenueCat (subscriptions), PostHog (analytics) and AWS Rekognition (verification).
8. Subscription and Billing
Christian Union offers a free tier and a paid subscription. Free accounts may hold one accepted connection at a time. A paid subscription unlocks the platform's full connection capacity.
- Price. The current subscription price is £4.99 per month (GBP). Prices are displayed in the app before purchase and may be updated with advance notice as described in Section 11.
- Auto-renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You will not receive a separate reminder before each renewal.
- How to cancel. Subscriptions are managed through the platform on which you purchased: the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). To cancel, go to your device's subscription settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access until then.
- Refunds. Refund eligibility is governed by Apple's or Google's refund policies, as applicable. We do not issue refunds directly.
- Right of withdrawal. UK consumer law would ordinarily give you a 14-day cooling-off period to cancel a digital subscription. By starting your subscription and gaining immediate access to Christian Union's full features, you expressly request that the service begins immediately and acknowledge that you lose your statutory right to withdraw once access has begun. You may still cancel future renewals at any time through your App Store or Google Play settings.
- Auto-pause. If your profile is paused automatically by our system due to inactivity, your subscription is cancelled at that point. You retain access until the end of your current billing period. We automatically credit you with a pro-rata extension equal to the unused days of that billing period, applied to your subscription when you re-subscribe. No cash refund is issued.
- User-initiated pause. If you choose to pause your own account, your subscription is cancelled at that point. You retain access until the end of your current billing period. After that your profile remains paused and you will not be charged further. No pro-rata credit or refund is issued for a user-initiated pause. To use Christian Union again, you will need to re-subscribe.
- Termination for breach. If your account is terminated for a violation of these Terms, no refund will be issued for any unused portion of your subscription period.
9. Your Content
You retain ownership of all photographs, voice introductions, messages and other content you submit to Christian Union. By submitting content, you grant Lumis Inspira Ltd a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display and transmit that content solely for the purpose of operating and providing the service to you and other members. This licence ends when you delete the content or close your account, subject to the retention periods described in the Privacy Policy. We do not claim ownership of your content and will not use it for any purpose beyond operating the service.
10. Limitation of Liability
Christian Union provides a platform for connection. We are not responsible for the conduct of individuals. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lumis Inspira Ltd is not liable for any loss or damage resulting from your interactions with other members, whether they occur within the app or in person. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England and Wales.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, those that affect your rights, the price of a subscription or the core rules of the platform, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by in-app notification or email before the change takes effect. For minor changes (such as corrections or clarifications that do not affect your rights) we may update without advance notice. The Last Updated date at the top of this document reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of Christian Union after a change takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
